Better than its reputation. Also makes the E-M10 looks good!

For my Olympus OM-D E-M10 I was looking for a good but not too expensive zoom. With the 14-42 Kitlinsen I was never really satisfied, which is why these were dropped from the outset. Since I'm often on the road outside with my kids, I also was looking for a very flexible lens that can save me the hassle of switching.

So it was obvious to test the Olympus 12-50 and I have so far not regretted!

At the E-M10 it looks quite big, but can hold easily. Toll I think the very high-quality finish. Likewise I welcome the splash protection. Clear the E-M10 has not, however, trigger with freezer bag and if necessary on the tripod via smartphone (in my case a Xperia Z, which then has water protection), works just fine. Here is where the electrical push to bear, with which you can zoom using the wireless LAN function of the E-M10 via smartphone!

Also, the Manual zoom works good and clean, this is switched by simply pulling on the zoom ring!

The macro function has me confused first, because right away without looking in the manual is not quite clear how this is activated, as a press the button does not help. But if you have to get out the trick (press button and drag Zoom ring) it goes fast, even if it seems awkward at first. The macro function itself is convenient and good, although of course not a scale of 1: 1 is achieved.
In macro mode, the lens stops down to 6.3. Without macro lights can thus be a bit dark depending on the subject. Something always have yet practical case.

The zoom range is 24-100mm with KB very generous and goes so easily into the ultra wide angle, for landscapes great architecture but partly not well corrected, so that post-processing is necessary.

The lens is virtually supplemented by the additional function key. Have upped the ante here the HDR function.

The picture quality itself is at the short end still very good and I think the other kits superior (with the exception of Pro-Kits). At the long end, the quality leaves but after very.

Conclusion:

Very good flexible lens. Very robust and high quality. Practical Macro mode. Meanwhile, to get very well priced,
