The Damned One can only love or hate! Even in its early days it polarized powerful and not later than the third album "Machine Gun Etiquette" they were at the bottom by die-hard punk. This Best Of album shows why: It contains the old Kracher ala "Neat, Neat, Neat", "New Rose" but it is also the later following things that had less in common with British punk rock. I personally love the Damned the first hour, but also like some of her later, wavigeren songs. The Damned remember then on The Lords of the New Church, or The Mission and other Goth punks, who were heavily influenced by The Damned. Outstanding songs on this CD are in addition to the above mentioned the trashy "Lovesong" and the hot version of B.Ryan classic "Eloise". Also worth mentioning "Smash It Up", the gloriously anarchic lust evokes the destruction and "White Rabbit," the Jefferson Airplane psychedelic classics in a gloomy Doom version! As said at the beginning: You love them or you do not. Had not some meaningless tracks, I would have given five stars. So there's a very good four!
