Packaging: Plays not really matter, but I would like to say that I am here very disappointed with Bose anyway: a blister pack is part of a cheap product and not to a hi-fi headphones in this price range.
Scope of supply: Again Shame on Bose: not even a plug adapter was in the package. For Denon he is of course included. For me, not so bad, because I still had a closet.
Processing: The Denon is processed excellently. Solid mechanics, a thick, polyester-coated cable that seems made for eternity. The here repeatedly expressed fear that the earpieces could break, I can not share. The joint is made of metal and put away some determined. The Bose is processed not as noble, but much lighter in weight. The plastic feels quite wertig on, the cable is very thin, but it can be replaced.
Sound: Since I really could never like the typical American Bose sound, me the headphones of the brand have but very pleasantly surprised. The Bose ever came only therefore be shortlisted, because I heard the noise reduction variation by chance at Media Markt and was amazed at how high Fidel the little things as opposed to the other Bose products sounded.
And the Bose AE2 ordered convinced. He sounds very balanced, fine and dynamic. Dry bass, not too much, nor too little, very well resolved and the middle - quite to my taste - very silky and restrained highs. I was really excited. According excited I was, whether the 100 euros more expensive Denon there still could be forking out a shovel.
The first impression was a stalemate for me. The Denon sounds a little full and all of a piece, the bass in character minimally different, but not better than the Bose. In the heights it seemed to me the Denon minimal analytical and anspringe Direction - probably like the most listeners prefer, I'm conditioned to seemingly more subtle heights of my Dynaudio speakers with soft dome. Here was for me the Bose the nose forward.
But there is one aspect in which the Denon is the Bose really think: After prolonged listening, I noticed that some pieces, especially with men's voices sounded a little thinner at AE2. Snare drums, such as Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain", sounded just fine on the Denon, one track fatter and hence more natural. In this frequency range the Bose simply lacks a bit of punch.
Actually the race was already over demit. The Denon is the sound not much, but still audibly better. If I had to fix it on a scale, I would say Bose gets 9.5 and Denon 10 of 10 points.
I have surprisingly then but decided yet for Bose. The decisive factor was the last criterion.
Comfort: The Denon is a really adult, stable and serious hi-fi headphones. And so he feels well. If I compared it against one of the other cars or by Beyer Sennheiser, I would certainly not so noticed. That's just so: Good sound need mass and material. After just half an hour a certain pressure on the head - and so it has - although the cushions of Denon are really first class.
The Bose, however, is in this discipline of absolute high-flyer: very easy, with minimal pressure which is moreover very evenly distributed over the entire pad surface. The headset does not begin to annoy about a half an hour, but after some time you almost forget that you wear it. The single-sided cable plus the extended range of motion. That convinced me in the long run just over one way or another nuance.
Conclusion: The Denon is a really great, adult headphones. Brutal Hifi good of every euro and also my recommendation is worth. The Bose is back but only minimally and scores with the very best wearing comfort - at least for my head - I've ever been able to experience in a hi-fi headphones. Both get me a recommendation to buy, I have decided for the Bose.
