At first I thought, the Blu-ray version would indeed rich. But unfortunately there is a complete Tilburg concert on CD. And the CDs in turn is only available in combination with DVD, either with or without additional Blu-ray.
I think that's ever stupid, that there is not at least one Blu-ray + CD version without the DVD. What I'm interested in the DVDs, if I have exactly the same content in higher quality on Blu-ray? This is a point deduction, because the appropriate package would have much cheaper may be.
The PLI as already the last (Whirlwind Tour) from nice strong cardboard box, which also mandatory as annoying Rated logo on the box and the video slipcase is fortunately only a label that can be removed without leaving any residue with a corresponding procedure ,
The box contains two slipcase, also made of thick cardboard. They are designed slightly differently, that they each have a different photo tour (though the same motive - the captured moments are probably only a few seconds apart) printed and include a different, "built-in" booklet.
The CD slipcase contains the 3 CDs on which the Tilburg concert is included, the booklet Tour Photos with presentation of musicians and disclosures. For example, that Roine Stolt sat for the Cologne-concert at the mixing desk. The Tilburg concert has Rich Mouser, Transatlantic's house and yard mixer mixed. All good so.
The video slipcase contains two DVDs and Blu-ray each with the Cologne-concert and the bonus material, the booklet only tour photos without any text.
Otherwise, this tour takes Daniel Gildenlöw was (Pain of Salvation) Ted Leonard (Enchant, Spock's Beard) as additional musicians here because Gildenlöw was seriously ill. I did not know Leonard previously, but the first impression is not bad - although I prefer the main voice of Gildenlöw. But the vocal abilities and efforts of Leonard to replace Gildenlöw vocally adequately are to have heard clearly. He also sings some vocal parts of Stolt (and Morse?).
As bonus material there is a "behind-the-scenes" -doku, a band interview, 3 bonus songs from Tilburg concert (Nights in White Satin, Sylvia and Hocus Pocus, the latter two with Thjis van Leer (Focus) as an additional guest musicians) and - not on the back of the box - a "Beatles song-rate competition" between Mike and Neal (a small part of it can also be seen in the documentary).
The image quality is likely to be largely assessed as very good, the sound as well. The tone of the concert comes as a 5.1 DTS-HD and LPCM 2.0 stereo, the bonus material as LPCM therefore. The image is grainy at times (see. LTE 2008 Blu-ray), the stationary cameras on or in the vicinity of the instruments provide places artefact containing webcam quality (HD-level, non Webcams of the early years of course). But that's due to the particular type of camera and the light or vibration conditions. (I speak only of the Blu-ray, the DVDs I have yet to rotate in the drive.)
All in all a release, as one would expect of Transatlantic, only that there is no complete edition of content without DVD, bothers me a little.
