brian wilson at work: an extraordinary witness

we already have everything about pet sounds: one of the best albums of pop history, next to the beatles revolver (and many others according to taste), not to mention "god only knows" a song which continues to cry Paul McCartney.
Here the interest lies within 3 hours of tapes that show Wilson dusted by one side while the instrumental work and the other vocal sessions. And the result is overwhelming: music, saturated with classical instruments almost become accomplished works in themselves. Comments BW, we hear here and there, not as a musician show stone they say, but very determined about what he wants. We truly rediscovered all the pieces of the original album, here comes in two versions, mono and stereo (original 66 being in mono).
As for voice, delivered naked on the CD 3, they also give the thrill, whether the masterful harmonies and solo parts (god only knows, once again).
The accompanying booklet, for its part, is abundant, fully documented. This "pet sounds sessions" is a total success and an exciting paper on the history of music of the past 50 years. Besides fans of beach boys or beatles (or even pop in general), these 4 cd interest to all musicians, whatever their field of practice.
