In 1945, John Entenza, editor of the monthly "Art and Architecture" launches the "Case Study House": it is to promote, for individual houses, a modern, functional and economic achitecture in anticipation of a strong demand after the end of the Second World War which saw the return to America of millions of soldiers. This program involves leading architects of the time as Raphael Soriano, Richard Neutra, Craig Ellwood, Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, Pierre Koenig ... The work of most of them is in fact the subject of books in the same series. In the end a thirty projects are designed between 1945 and 1966, particularly memorable iconic houses of the fifties in the hills above Los Angeles.
Play begins with two introductory pages on the Case Study House Program, before presenting each project with beautiful photos in color or black and white shots (brief access). At the end of the book there is a map showing a construction.
Materially, the book is of good quality: soft cover and ice but lined a hundred very white paper pages with precise and contrasted printing.
