The End of the World (Paperback)

Customer Review

I was taking me away from this novel because the institutional critics had classified romance pure youth and hard ..
With this pocket out, I met him, I fiddled and I decided to make me this little novel that looked for my taste ....

It is a short novel of two hundred pages, too long to be a new but yet displays strong similarity with this kind of text, because of its editorial fairly short format eventually.

Brevity is not really a problem because if the transitions are sometimes at high speed, they are extremely well done.
They are also often a little frustrating, but still very, very, well-crafted.

These accelerations are frustrating story because it is a good text and I regretted its brevity, because it is a story taking the reading is motivated by the meeting of engaging characters and a crisis whose description is realistic, accurate, persuasive.
The "TIMING" is really impeccable and the story is intensely rhythmic, the text goes fast and the pace is very strong. It speeds, it breaks, according to a quite discontinuous movement.

If it is generally brisk walking dominates, the narrative is not sloppy and glue the thrill.

I really felt to find myself in the science fiction of the era of the Cold War, and it is a bit in fact, except that the geopolitical crisis described by the author clearly falls to a contemporary multipolar world.

The starting point of the crisis is Chinese-American, but the conflict is understood and the number of bombs exploding reached quickly enough critical mass, and very quickly too I should say actually.

In the turmoil the characters try to survive, to understand, "to achieve", to know the situation and understand ....
Everything goes very fast, but at the same time as the pages scroll, it seems to follow in real time the disaster.

The ending is a true end, although it primarily a hook for a sequel to this novel, entitled After which unfortunately is exhausted.

This novel is very rational and entirely realistic, but I'm not sure that the result is a class as realistic.
I feel (the suite) plus fantasy? with the low word, a touch of fantasy, then, or a little (a lot) irrational or even spiritual?

Fabrice Colin writes well, it reminds me of a mix of PELOT Pierre and Pierre Bordage for various reasons that I let you discover.
