But now the camera itself:
The relatively high grade processed body is very satisfactory, it fits comfortably in your hand and is also quite easy. The lenses are just as well made, the zoom and focusing rings go slightly - but not too light, which is very satisfactory. In the operation, I gathered myself quickly and easily.
Among the features:
The 500D has several automatic functions; the range goes from fully automatic on specific portrait and landscape modes to macro- and sports programs, night and Blitzlosoptionen are represented. For photographers, while not want to set everything manually, but want to have design options Canon provides this as a novelty, the Creative Auto. In this one can image brightness, depth of field and lightning still adjust itself, the rest is the Cam itself. Program AE course there.
I appreciate automatic functions not too high, but if even a moving subject spontaneously occurred (bus at the bus stop, bird in the sky, boat on the river, etc.) but I took it like to complete. Here, however, the Canon has a major weakness: it does not come too well clear with extreme lighting conditions. On a sunny day the strong contrast and sharpness can also original backlight panel and UV filters from B + W to be desired, of rich colors can be no question here. The images are then difficult to use in my opinion, which I also confirmed a friendly professional photographer. If you nachhilft with GIMP or Paint.net, see the images indeed already a lot better, but really good, they are no longer.
But since I anyway working with the creative features, I want to focus on this me now. Depending on which program you choose, two of the three setting values (ISO, shutter speed, aperture) set for each one set by the user value. Unfortunately occur in low light again the above-mentioned weaknesses, since the Cam partially absurd exposure setting (with slight darkness 1 / 25s at 250mm zoom) simply unnecessarily high ISO values are chosen or despite Tonwertpriorität, and the pictures are totally noisy. Just looking drauflos pictures in program AE is therefore unfortunately impossible, and even if you (for landscapes) then times f18 f22 or adjusts (Av mode), get it not the camera back to choose a normal exposure time.
For me, these weaknesses are not allzuschlimm because I photograph M in the program and thus distinguished all the settings itself. Who really takes the time and brings something to experience, will be very pleased with the EOS 500D, because the images themselves are very Contrast, and the lenses because of the more (for the price) very good shutter the possibility of portraits to landscapes to photograph everything. The AF does its job as long as you choose the center weighted metering, he also does not spin around. The flash is of course not the most yellow of the egg, otherwise not to be expected at a 3-digit EOS.
My conclusion: This camera has all the facilities for an ambitious hobby photographer to immortalize motives. All settings can be made and the camera brings the technical requirements for very good pictures. Depending than what you see - beginner-Cam or not - is to evaluate them differently. I would feel lost as a starter and the images would not meet my needs. Once you look at the M - dares function to open a new world, and you have endless fun with this Canon.
I would buy them again at any time!
PS: mitkaufen lens hood, Canon's misers do NOT provide with.
