From the DVD, however, I was pretty disappointed ... And since I'm a huge Placebo fan, I'm really hard to be disappointed by Placebo stuff!
The presentation is very high. On the cover of Casebox the "Meds" cover is displayed. The Casebox acts like a little book and is visually very beautiful. A few pages to scroll with different images do not get tired of the DVD.
CD and DVD units with matching style and harmonize with the whole Casebox.
Taking the DVD a nice appealing menu that looks promising appears.
First you can watch a documentary. This falls in my opinion, however, very short and sweet (only about 8 min).
The lyrics are displayed in a virtual booklet and while you will be looking at the individual lyrics played an instrumental version of the song in the background.
The words are now light line by line, but the lighting is not in sync with the melody but also shows the words to be sung next. Normally, the lighting should show the word what is sung at this moment.
For the true fan probably does not matter, because he can sing all the songs anyway. For ignorant but initially confusing .... Well placebo is also no karaoke band!
The extras are fine, but not overwhelming. As video "Twenty Years" live (2004), the song "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep" offer (with The Cure) and Backstage at Live 8.
"Twenty Years" live is a nice touch. The song "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep" Personally I like not so good, but that's a matter of taste, but also a nice touch. At Backstage at Live 8 are great pictures to see, but it is also again backed by Twenty Years and it would have been nice in my opinion, still to hear a few comments of the band ...
When audio tracks of the song "Long Division" is on offer, and "Pierrot the Clown", "In the Cold Light of Morning" and "I Do" will be presented as a demo, again a nice touch.
As letzes can you look at the trailer for the DVD "Soulmates Never Die - Live in Paris 2003" look and "Once More With Feeling".
Conclusion:
Beautiful appearance, not much behind. Price for what is offered is too high.
I would the DVDs "Soulmates ..." and "Once More ..." recommend. on "Soulmates .." we have a 20-min. Commanded documentary that gives an insight into the tour-life placebos and "Once More .." is a 40-min. Interview with the band, which gives an insight into the personality of the band members and placebos past.
