Positives:
+ The camera responds by all compact cameras we tested the fastest and most reliable! Only the DSLR is even faster (standby time, shutter lag, image processing time). Above all, the Nikon has pushed me here very negative. The Panasonic has demanded now and then a few seconds memorial.
+ The tripod socket is located on the optical axis (useful for panning shots)
+ Touchscreen works well, along with the dial around the lens, the camera can very good and fast service
+ For charging is a charging cradle; very useful if you have a 2nd battery in use and does not upload or photograph will (as with Olympus, Nikon, Panasonic).
+ Ratio to MP Sensor size appropriate (quite different from the Panasonic, which can also be seen in the pictures)
+ Built-in neutral density (ND) filter with nearly 3 EV.
+ HDR (both as a finished recording of three shots, as well as for future cooperation continued on the PC as an adjustable bracket to 0 + -3EV with three shots).
+ Adjustable Self-Timer (time and number of images; the only offer all Canon and DSLR)
+ The dial can be proven individually, using the touch screen to get any time at ISO and exposure compensation, depending on the recording program nor to other parameters.
+ The menu is very intuitive to my feeling, clearly structured and not overloaded. Other manufacturers can learn a lot here!
+ Bracketing can be combined with the self-timer! Unmissable for longer exposure times.
+ The self-timer remains until shutdown or until he turned off is set. That sounds a course, therefore it also interferes with extreme, that this is not the Nikon (the DSLR) and the Panasonic is the case!
+ The camera is small and light. (Major failure of the Olympus, which would like to play in a different class, it except in terms of size and weight but does not in my opinion).
+ Standard mini-B USB port (all others use proprietary connectors / sockets)
+ Focusing speed pleasantly high
Neutral:
O wireless is only for picture transmission
O video frame rate of moving subjects a little too low (slight stutter); here was the successor reworked (better only the Panasonic)
O no Sweep Panorama (which, however, in the works is not fully satisfactory), for a Panorama Assist.
O no interval recording (for time / time-lapse).
O via a menu motorized ausfahrender flash in the upper left corner (hold the left index finger).
O level only Horizontal
O no GPS (only compatible smartphone in my opinion is not that useful, is directly in the camera)
Negatives:
- With screwed tripod plate the battery / memory card compartment is blocked
- At slow shutter speeds (which even are quite short with 15s yet, Nikon eg leaves 60s to) the ISO is fixed at 80. This makes it impossible to take such as a recording of the starry sky.
- The bezel can be opened at longer focal lengths hardly. Advertise with Aperture 2 is beautiful, at the long end, it is with 5.9 again really weak! However, the Canon is not alone, except for the Olympus (F1.8 F2.5!) Fall here all cameras from quickly.
- In the (semi-) automatic functions is the max. Shutter speed to 1 second set. This is completely incomprehensible to me, Nikon shows with the P330 here that this is also better (no limit)
- In manual mode it is not possible to superimpose a bracketing (especially in combination with the 1s restriction in the automatics disturbing). This can only Olympus and the DSLR.
- Display does not tilt / folding / rotating possibility
Some negative and neutral points, however, must be noted that they do not matter for the interested parties with CHDK.
In the image quality, there were no big surprises. The Canon S110 and the Nikon P330 are not that far. Depending on the subject / situation, the Nikon or Canon images are better / more beautiful for my taste. The DSLR is always (depending on the situation easy to clear) on the compact, the SX260 is relatively well with the larger compacts with, but remain behind the 1 / 1.7 sensor back (S110; P330; ZX-2), the Old A590 comes with only in good light, but has other disadvantages (therefore it was indeed replaced). The Panasonic shows beautiful images through soft and a certain cell phone look that it makes no sense to squeeze a 1 / 2.33 Sensor 18MP. The pictures show only more space (about 50% more than the SX260 with 12MP sensor on the same area) and show less detail.
For me, from this comparison, the Canon S110 as the winner. In the pictures there is hardly something to complain about, it is small and light, quickly prepared and can be operated smoothly. Second place I would award and the Nikon loses from software reasons due to the operation of the Olympus and Panasonic. What good are beautiful pictures when she's not fun to take because the camera really stand out for long waits!
