Positives:
Create + GPS with the possibility a log (Variable interval and duration)
+ Slow shutter speeds possible (in M mode to 60s at ISO400, ISO800, etc .; 30s in the S mode 15s at ISO100, ISO200 at 8s, etc.) to allow (and F1.8) are also shots of the night sky is possible (the otherwise can not), the automatic exposure up to 15s (different with the others, Canon limited to 1s, Panasonic can max. 4s (additional star mode with 15s and 30s)).
+ Interval Timer (30s, 60s, 300s, 600s) (which can otherwise only DSLR)
+ Built-in neutral density (ND) filter with nearly 3 EV.
+ Ratio to MP Sensor size appropriate (quite different from the Panasonic, which can also be seen in the pictures)
+ Two dials, which unfortunately does not can be assigned freely.
+ The flash is unfolded by hand, be unwanted surprises avoided. (Fixed at Olympus by hand, at Panasonic incorporated in Canon via a menu motorized retractable)
+ For panoramas, a wizard and a swivel automatic is programmed.
Neutral:
O no wireless or touchscreen
O bracketing can not be set.
Although O There is an individually programmable Fn button, but I find the assignment rather cumbersome. Better solves the Olympus.
Loading O the battery in the camera so that you have a choice, either to photograph or take pictures (with 2nd Battery)
Negatives:
- This camera is incredibly slow and sluggish. The drops already at power on (needs by far the longest of all), is in the menu no better and especially the time between shots can (exaggerated) go before sipping a coffee! Between the Nikon P330 and D5000 worlds (and categories), but even the same class cameras show impressively that also goes much better.
- I do not have succeeded the menu. Some features I have long wanted, some not at all found. For me, a camera must be intuitive. The DSLR Nikon makes the right in the compact has for me Canon is one step ahead. Panasonic and Olympus are between Canon and Nikon.
- With screwed tripod plate the battery / memory card compartment is blocked
- Tripod connection not in the optical axis.
- The bezel can be opened at longer focal lengths hardly. Advertise with Aperture 1.8 is beautiful, at the long end, it is with 5.6 again really weak! However, the Nikon is not alone, except for the Olympus (F1.8 F2.5!) Fall here all cameras from quickly.
- Proprietary USB cable (Canon uses standard Mini-B USB)
- Really slow in processing sequential shots. While it is nice to have different options here which has the speed of image acquisition, but the time between two series of pictures is just way too long!
- The self-timer keeps only for a picture! That bothers (me) extremely. Here Nikon can take a Canon times in the hand and some abschauen. Also Olympus makes it better.
- The locking of the battery compartment can be opened too easily. It has risen pick several times when plugging or out of his pocket. Can work that this type of lock, shows Panasonic. I like it better when Olympus and Canon.
- Focusing speed could be faster, more often than in other compact camera has shown problems finding a focal point.
- No spirit level
- Display does not tilt / folding / rotating possibility
In the image quality, there were no big surprises. The Canon S110 and the Nikon P330 are not that far. Depending on the subject / situation, the Nikon or Canon images are better / more beautiful for my taste. The DSLR is always (depending on the situation easy to clear) on the compact, the SX260 is relatively well with the larger compacts with, but remain behind the 1 / 1.7 sensor back (S110; P330; ZX-2), the Old A590 comes with only in good light, but has other disadvantages (therefore it was indeed replaced). The Panasonic shows beautiful images through soft and a certain cell phone look that it makes no sense to squeeze a 1 / 2.33 Sensor 18MP. The pictures show only more space (about 50% more than the SX260 with 12MP sensor on the same area) and show less detail.
For me, from this comparison, the Canon S110 as the winner. In the pictures there is hardly something to complain about, it is small and light, quickly prepared and can be operated smoothly. Second place I would award and the Nikon loses from software reasons due to the operation of the Olympus and Panasonic. What good are beautiful pictures when she's not fun to take because the camera really stand out for long waits!
