The Olympus OM-D EM5 I bought in 2012 with some lenses, because I last holiday with extensive sightseeing at 35 degrees in the shade my good 5 kg Nikon no longer perceived as no alternative. I eagerly tried now the HLD-6 from - and was disappointed. I then had the chance, the new OM-D EM 1 try, which already has an integrated handle. That was the bigger surprise: The EM1 fit almost like a glove in my right hand! If one compares it with the EM5 incl. Of the HLD-6 upper part, it is about the same size and weight (the lower part of the HLD-6 does not interest me really). I was once again so excited as when presenting the EM5. If I had not been the EM5, I would have been tempted ...
Conclusion:
1) If you already have a EM5, the HLD-6 may have to try hard for a few minutes. The evaluation of other help here exceptionally not really reliable.
2) Who is still before buying a EM5 and a HLD-6, may take directly to compare the EM1 in the hand. Yes, the EM1 is still almost 150 EUR more expensive than the team EM5 plus HLD-6, but it's also just getting started and will surely still fall in price. Moreover, it has really some very useful new features.
In both cases, the interested party will be his right hand to say what is the right decision. If the fit HLD-6, he certainly deserves 5 stars. For me it does not fit exactly, so be careful a star deduction for the otherwise high-quality part.
