Method:
- Before testing I lapped two helmets 40 hours each without listening.
- I listened repeatedly, successively on the two helmets, whole pieces of 3 or 4 minutes, for an overall impression, and small portions of 10 to 20 seconds, for a more revealing analytic listening bass passages of midrange, treble.
Results musicality:
- I started listen to the HD 650:
Upon first listen I thought, really, it's not for nothing that this helmet is the reference among music lovers!
Spatiality, nice bass, clear stamps, splendid ...
So I was afraid that this test be stillborn, given the quality of what jentendais.
- Switching to K701:
Actually less bass, very clear stamps, but the ear is less flattered ...
- Then cut to pieces the listening cycle, with transition between the fastest helmets can to keep the auditory impression ...
And then, very quickly, the trend returns for the K701.
These low in early flattering HD 650, gradually become low in my ear that increase and deafen the whole.
When you listen to the same passage just after K701 on the music becomes more clear and obvious feeling of transparency, and then cottony feel then becomes more obvious on HD 650.
This impression is confirmed throughout the test: all highlight the K701 for me is the helmet that renders music more pleasant: it is crystal clear, every note, every tone is perfectly respected perceived without coloring.
This net difference is perhaps even more sensitive about classical music.
Comfortable Results:
After a few hours of listening, the comfort of a helmet becomes a major criterion. It is useless to have "the world's best headphones" if after 30 minutes of listening more we think about gene on the ears to the notes you hear!
- The HD 650 is very present and greenhouse too for my taste. Low-airflow he heated up the ears become unpleasant. Velvet with headphones pavilions consist accentuates this feeling.
- The K701 gave me an impression of lightness and ventilation which allows a comfortable listening during a long session.
It has a fully automatic support height adjustment system through simple and very clever little system.
Moreover the cord comes out only on one side of the helmet, which I find much more convenient than having a wire coming out of each earpiece to join Y on the wearer's torso as with HD 650
The K701 is therefore struck me as much more comfortable than the HD 650.
Rates:
Both helmets were issued to 450 when marketed and since their rates fall steadily.
But to this day I paid 343 for the HD 650 to the best web price, then I have to pay the 166 for the K701, less than half the price!
CONCLUSION:
If I had listened to the HD 650, I would have thought it was great. This is a great headset.
But by comparing the objectively under the conditions above, on my stereo, with my ears (!) And my musical program, the K701 is much more satisfying for me musically and much more comfortable to wear.
The K701 therefore proves my ear winner on listening, comfort, and is found at half the price of HD 650!
