Compromise Album

Together with people like Kanye West Pharrell Williams heard in this genre to a (new) generation of musicians and producers who remember next to the currently prevailing in the scene, commercial attitude again on the roots and heritage of black music; a circumstance which was gait and grant from the mid-nineties from a heavy sell-off of HipHop.

And so here we have an album that on the one hand, freed from all corners and edges corresponding to the mass-market requirements, on the other hand because of his reminiscences, for example, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye or (albeit only partially) the Native Tongues conglomerate a soothing includes ride height. So you can see it as the smallest common denominator in my opinion, with regard to the different opinions within the hip-hop community.

An album so on amount of time, but not state of the art! Whoever paired with musical experimentation expected challenging and socially critical texts, which I want to put the new album Game Theory of THE ROOTS warmly.

Pharrell, however, is an entertainer who entertains his audience with clever thoughtful and cleverly arranged songs. He has designed a small but interesting album, which can be heard in almost every walk of life. No more, no less!

My conclusion therefore: 4 stars.
