Conditions were set:
- Small calculator for real operating system
- 8GB RAM
- SSD
- HDMI
- SD Card Reader
So Acer 756 without an operating system with additional 4GB Ram DDR3 1333MHz PC3-10600 CL9 Transcend SO-DIMM
and SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 128GB ordered.
Delivery as usual and installed immediately upon receipt, the 4GB and the SSD.
First check: Windows 8 will not install.
A BIOS update was needed because it was 1:05. Current version is 1.09.
But how? There are only BIOS updates for Windows.
So, at first installed Windows 7 and carried out BIOS Update 1.05 to 1:09.
Then can also install Windows 8. :-))
I noticed only irregular freeze. The log then the drama: Again and again Disk error. Damn, I was almost ready. (Drivers, patches, ....)
So crosscheck: Windows 7 installed. Even disk error.
The SSD connected to another computer and installed Windows 7 -> Everything Ok. -> SSD is healing.
The original HDD back built in the Acer. -> Everything works and is easy to install. Whether Windows 7 or Windows. 8
Feedback from the Acer Support: No SSD support. Only HDD.
So other SSD (Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB) ordered. This was stated in an evaluation and there were no problems.
Delivery as usual quickly.
Then the first test with Windows 7 -> no Disk Error. Euphoria was great.
Now Windows 8 -> After logging abort: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL -> reboot repeatedly.
The problem is also not entirely new in the network. In this context, repeatedly came the WLAN module.
So wireless module is removed and Windows 8 up. What a wonder it runs.
Reason: In Windows 8 is a driver not compatible with the WLAN module.
So then up the first driver. All of Acer downloaded.
This is followed by the driver installation from the WLAN module:
So safe mode enabled. Computer shutdown. WLAN module installed.
In Safe Mode, then download the latest driver for the WLAN module installed.
Safe Mode disables again.
Conclusion: computer runs with all components in Windows. 8
The comic in this matter. With HDD everything goes. But is only half as fast.
I hope I could give you some tips. Please keep in mind that the opening of the device may lead to loss of warranty.
