Upon further unpacking and after removal of the papers, the lens hood and lens pouch of separate then still the "all-clear", but MFT.
Anyone who has ever had a small picture Zoom similar focal length range in hand, will hardly be able to believe in what a compact space and at how little weight, such a focal length range with MFT is possible.
The processing makes an impeccable impression despite generous plastic insert for this price. Metal bayonet, fixed front lens, no rattling or rumble and the tube has very little play. The ring for zooming comes to my mind pleasant attention and without significant play, its course is pleasantly soft. The ring for the distance setting is not after, but is expected to play a minor role for most photographers this system anyway.
Operating noise kept within limits satisfactory and the AF of my GF1 works in conjunction with this lens as fast as fail.
Overall, the mechanical quality of this lens in my opinion, already the EIA is entirely appropriate.
For optical power much truth is here already written, I can fully support. In short and medium focal length range I find the image quality good to very good, for the long end from approximately 150mm toward the imaging performance then decreases continuously, and I think anything but the performance on the long end underground.
Fade Out causes here on the one hand a certain improvement, but causes the other hand, of course, a corresponding extension of the exposure time and due to the diffraction not be operated indefinitely. However, one need due to the relatively weak maximum aperture of the lens from 100mm despite the good acting image stabilization anyway much light or, in less favorable lighting conditions, a (monopod) Tripod, otherwise the declining image performance at the long end is rather the smaller problem ,
In summary, I find both the mechanical quality and the image quality in spite of the "faintness" and the consequent limitations in the use of the EIA already perfectly adequate. The make other manufacturers with comparable focal length range and price no better, rather the reverse.
Every euro below the RRP improves this ratio and currently called selling price, its downright bargain like character is no doubt largely due to the current follow-up product, you can actually go wrong at all.
