With the album "Amplified-A Decade of Reinventing the Cello" Apocalyptica has now reached the sixth. Between the last albums the band has their style and their image is often changed by high working from Metallica covers an internationally successful, media-respected hard rock / metal band and now increasingly also cooperate with singers. This development pays Apocalyptica and summarizes the new two slices of the over ten-year Finnish plant.
During a colorful instrumental mix can be found from the five albums on the first CD, all vocal pieces are on the second Silberling included (except two other versions of "Quutamo"):
Content: Enter Sandman, Armageddon, Nothing else matters, Refuse / Resist, Somewhere around nothing, Betrayal, Farewell, Master of Puppets, Hall of the Mountain King, One, Heat, cohkka, Kaamos, Death Zone, Angel of Death. The latter has been covered especially for this album.
About the piece selection can of course argue depending on your preference - it is about amazing that Apocalyptica has recorded so many cover despite masses of (good) own music on CD 1. Overall, the CD offers of course still a representative retrospective.
The second disc in the covenant may also encounter divided minds, because Apocalyptica singing either like or dislike can:
Content: Repressed (new), Path Vol 2, Bittersweet, Hope Vol 2, How far Faraway Vol 2, Life Burns, sailor... Not to forget the video for "Heat", which is also on the CD.
Alone, because most of the pieces were to have been only on the special editions or as a single, this CD is worth a look.
All in all, "Amplified" for newcomers and fans of course worthwhile also because of the nice features. Listeners who have many / all albums already or do not attach importance to the vocal pieces, need "Amplified" not necessarily.
