"Dare you face the terrifying secret of Crickley Hall?"

I love horror movies since I was little. Be afraid in front of it, that's fine. Yes Yes. But what's with reading? Can we have the same fears? We will see that.

The story begins all that to more classic; a family will spend some time away from it all in a big house. One can even say a mansion given its size. In this small family, found Gabe Caleigh and Eve and their two girls aged five and twelve. And their dog. They are in dire straits. They have a five year old son who has been kidnapped and the past year, they have no news. Not even ransom. Is he dead or alive? That is the big question. For this tragedy they wanted to live elsewhere, far from where their son lived. And it is precisely at Crickley Hall they land. A dismal place with a time where it rains constantly. Not to mention the house with its Gothic look not merry for a sub. Not the best place to try to revive and resume fishing.

But in fact, I loved this place and its atmosphere. It's always gray. The house is in the middle of nowhere surrounded by tall trees and around the house there to a river. It is also present in the house. This is not private. The story does not go in their new home. There also in the Bay Hollow village with few inhabitants and their accents in the region. As soon as a topic of conversation is on Crickley Hall, they all change behavior. But ... but why ?? Is that it imposes, this famous building.

The first paranormal events occur-or hallucinations- quickly. The swing in the garden that moves on its own without the slightest wind, shadows that move, crying, the dog that is terrified of water puddles, the cellar door that opens permanently even closed properly ... Not the kind of things that would want to live here !! It's not the events so atrocious as that. Whatever, crying, brrrr! At first the father annoys because it is a very common thing in this kind of story is that for him, as soon as his daughters and his wife are afraid of a shadow, a noise, a appearance, voice, is that they have had hallucinations. That nothing is real. You know, it is seen often see all the time, a person does not take seriously the words, fears, and the fears of others. Full of cynicism, this father. But he will realize that to maybe wrong. For more than 200 pages, despite more and more phenomena, it happens nothing dangerous for the family. But rest assured (that is not a bit mean to say that? Well, that's what you expect in a story like this one :)), the danger will be felt.

The title of the novel is speaking. Loved discover in the pages of Crickley Hall secrets, his past. The past (that is exciting) take great place in history and it is good, to understand everything. A house as she obviously holds mysteries. This is an old story. At the end of summer 1943. There the years to have a great flood in the area and home to undergo the drama. It is from this starting point that inexplicable things happening until today. But chuuuut. Let's be clear, we understand from the start, even by reading only the summary we will have to do with ghosts or any other means possible. All this is classic but it is the content that changes. Of course I will not tell you anything about the rest but I wanted to say that the story starts normally (creepy house, family comes to live in it, paranormal phenomena ...) and it's the rest that will move away a little bit of that. Without either something incredible and never seen.

Watch this small family friendly summer. Putting two young children who will have to deal with all that, it gives a different view if it was with adults. Then there to the perks such as trips outside the home. The new school for the older sisters. The people that make their knowledge. All these little things of everyday life. The more we advance in the many more or less short chapters, the more I was with family support. The pace moves more than one shot at a time, it is unleashed and wanted to know the end of each chapter what would happen. And to make things even better, a terrible storm hits the region. That's the flood. Both in the time for the family. It was a good read !!

I have not had chills throughout my reading but who knows, maybe you, you will have? A beautiful brick of a little over 560 pages.
