Most of us would probably expect us a solo album from Dave would still get to "Paper Monsters", because after all he was able to prove with his first disc as a songwriter and was allowed on the last studio album from Depeche Mode contributing three songs. But apparently has the letter made him so much that he even had to release something. Had he still uses a more conventional rock instruments with the first album, he now uses a lot of electronic sounds like you, it is quite usual by Depeche Mode. Nevertheless, I do not find that the plate does not necessarily sound like a demo album, but quite strongly recalls. Here more crashing, clanging and scratching sounds are sometimes still used as usual. Mainstream is not really, but Dave said roughly in an interview that the songs the sides of his soul show and must please him. It must be music to the masses just not always. You can see the songs roughly divided into two extremes: sensual melancholy and angry excessively. In between, there is hardly anything, except maybe "Endless", but that indeed behave rather quiet sounds a rather lively Beat has. From the slow sensual pieces fall particularly "Miracles" on, was at the very waived rhythm sounds. The text is accompanied only by spheres sounds. Other successful pieces from this corner are "Saw Something", which offers use of strings, and "Insoluble". The extreme is to "Deeper + Deeper", which Dave sings so distressed that you almost did not recognize his voice between the distorted guitars. Other stylistically related songs would be the single "Kingdom" and "Use You" which is very reminiscent of the demo hit "I Feel You". The two best songs are undisputed "A Little Lie" and "Down", which could have easily found on a Depeche Mode album space. Both have beautiful melodies, with "A Little Lie" also still has a smooth rhythm and would come as a new single in question. However, rattles and clatters it here also in the middle part, so that the average radio listener would look determined horrified. Ich finds still awesome!
This disc is really good. Many surprised limited hours, which can write great songs for Dave. Of course we would prefer new Depeche Mode plates held solo albums, but with CDs of this Kalieber could the fan without the whole group survive. I'm curious how many pieces Dave must contribute for the next demo album.
