The box has finally arrived. First of the article itself:
- High quality hard box glossy
- 3 x Vinyl
- 3 x Pictures in vinyl size (Lisa, Brendan and overall stage)
=> Images are suitable for framing and hanging, which I will probably do well
- 1 x access code for MP3 downloads at 320kb / s
Now the songs selection:
Clear as always a matter of taste, but for me a perfect combination, especially when considering that the new album is completely on it. The reason for my statement is the following. I am a huge fan DCD (how many here) and possess pretty much everything has been published by DCD (including SACD box). Sure, there are a lot of older pieces of DCD, which beat the songs from the Anastasis, but Anastasis is for me the first album by DCD which is really to be regarded as consistent Gesamtkunswerk. While there is not this DCD-typical song Klopper, as on many other albums, but from the first to the last song, one is literally torn out of the everyday life, as the pieces of the topic with a strong link to each other. Other albums of DCD, although there were pieces that have really stood out, but the reference to the rest of album (for me at least) was missing. In "In Concert" older pieces were chosen that are perfectly integrated into the new album, so that the journey to the mythical worlds is not handicapped!
For sound:
Who ordered the vinyl, absolutely does everything right! The sound is grandious, all instruments come over very realistic and can be located perfectly in the room. There is a broad stage is based on having a great depth with many songs. The sound is very clear, however, does not come close to the studio version of Anastasis, but what you may not expect at a live recording should respectively. Again, it is a matter of taste. As one of my Vorredern already said, the sound at Towards the Within is a little better, but this live album almost sounds for a studio album and the live atmosphere seems to me a bit too short. All 3 plates run through without even a single clicks. What would be even more positive to mention is the fact that you can finally hear the new songs without error! In Anastasis from the I have the deluxe version, located on all media (formwork panel, CD, USB flash drive with high-resolution sound) recording significant errors. The best example is the song Opium, in which even before Brendan Perry starts singing crack noise can be heard from the tweeter and are then very clearly heard for a short time immediately before the song again (by yourself take a closer listen). A number of other songs, unfortunately, be heard this album Error Anastais. This is of course in the 3 plates with "In Concert" is not the case!
Overall conclusion:
Whether a fan or not. The vinyl edition is a must. You get 3 plates in a high-quality packaging with new and old songs in excellent sound quality and has also obtained by using the access code the opportunity all the songs as MP3 widget in 320kb / s and to hold on CD. ACCESS !!!
Addendum on 25/04/2013 for MP3 sound:
As already mentioned is the plates with an access code, where you can download all the songs as MP3. This I have now done and burned to CD. Compare MP3 to vinyl. Had I only known the MP3 sound, so I had the sound probably rated as very good. Is allowed, however, both running parallel and switch between vinyl and MP3 so the sound differences are clear and that in a similar way as it has already been the case with Anastasis. When MP3 is also a nice width builds on stage, all the instruments are clearly locatable, but it will switch to vinyl, so take the stage again very in depth about (a good example is the song Rakim). The voices of Brendan and Lisa back when vinyl to about 1m further forward, the instruments are distributed not only in width, but it is also easy to assign whether an instrument is closer or farther away from the listener. The sound of the instruments is different in Verbleich to the voices not quite so dramatically between the two formats. When vinyl are agree deutlch present and clear. You can literally identify a point in space where the Brendan and Lisa is. When MP3 voices somewhat diffuse come along and directionality no longer corresponds to a point but a surface in space.
I'll probably bring me the CDŽs, with the hope that they come as close to the sound of the Anastasis ran vinyl or perhaps even here are equally good and grudge my experiences here.
