Ubik (Paperback)

Customer Review

Philip K Dick is certainly, posthumously, the writer of science fiction most in tune with our time and questions. His art reached in this novel a virtuoso summit and efficiency style- we must salute on this remarkable translation A.Dorémieux. First dense and complex, Ubik finally found a rhythm (always supported) that inexorably takes the reader to the last page- which awaits a final pirouette. Dick is here right in the thematic fétiches- questions about reality, death, "ubiquity" precisely paranoia and métaphysiques- powers and feel it in full possession of his means. Ubik slightly disappointed me yet.
Why? Well, despite the admirable coherence of its universe, the questions it raises, black humor and absurd very dickien perhaps lacks Ubik unexpected complexity, a more fundamental questioning. It is obviously a very high flight entertainment (I rarely turned the pages of a book as fast and with as much excitement), very controlled, both funny, black and perfectly designed ... maybe is- This resolution, too simple after the introduction of an exciting and complex world, which prevents access to the book a kind of perfection.
It still remains a must.
