1) a practical test I have not done with that thing, so do not know if they actually respond to smoke.

3.) As described above, you need a detector, which takes over the call distribution. This should be as far as possible in the center (locally) your detector chain. The Master select by pressing in a detector the LEARN key twice. The LED on the device lights up green. Set on RED (one push the LEARN button) any other detector of radio reporting chain. Then press on the master detector on the test button and hold it down, until the last of the detector triggers the alarm and beeps. PROTECT YOUR HEARING! The units are very noisy and when multiple beeping in one room at the same time, that's for some too. Then you can release the Test button of the master detector. The detector chain is programmed and ready to go.
4.) It looks as if the detector the radio programming (so do not lose the membership of a detector chain). This is useful for a battery change.
5.) I recommend after a battery change but that a test of the corresponding detector. The pager should also trigger the alarm on the other.
