Clear were the two previous albums "Shadows are Security" and "Frail Words Collapse" real grenades and could the masses with their independent mix of death metal and hardcore guitar Breaks inspire themselves. As I Lay Dying had a firm place in the (metalcore) secured scene. Correspondingly high (yes, yes ... the same old story ...) were also expectations. Who had seriously expected that the band has not evolved since their last output? After all, two years have since also already painted into the country. But to be perfectly honest, I was disappointed only once when I had "An Ocean Between Us" for the first time in the player. Somehow the whole Sweden Death has disappeared, has been good for me otherwise. And the exit of bassist, who was responsible for the clean singing is not easy to get over. The new sounds somehow so .... naja..nicht like the old grip. But after some time and a few runs a falls suddenly on the hide on the new album some really cool numbers. Such as the insanely rough "Wrath Upon Ourselves" or unusually melodic ballad "I Never Wanted", and of course the single "Nothing Left", man what a reef !!! In short, the more I hear the disk, the more horny I find it actually. Although it alittle bit technical (is ja ne hammer fat production) and thrashy sounds as the events surrounding it now stands with me already on a par with the previous albums. As for the new (2nd) singer, it takes even a little familiarization ... and hey ... can be really good singing, and also happen to be a lot more versatile than its predecessor! So just plan ne longer settling time and yet everyone is still happy!
