Rushing energy guzzlers

As owner of a Canon SX 240HS I ordered with high expectation the new SX 500IS. After the first test images but then came the great disillusionment. The noise is from ISO 200 extremely high and no longer appropriate. The camera went back immediately. In image quality compared to the SX 240HS has a disadvantage the SX 500IS by far. The battery power (the same type for both cameras) is at about 100 final, as one creates after all, nearly double the SX 240HS. Who gets by with 20 x zoom and 12 MP should look in any case the SX 240HS because you know what you have and it is also easier to use and cheaper.
