Unfortunately, the medium format holder of this scanner are wrongly dimensioned, it lacks in width almost 3 mm. Thus, the device is good only with foreign holders for medium format scanning.
The quality in terms of resolution, sharpness and density would be for medium format - especially for such an old negatives, where often the resolution of lenses did not meet standards today - probably perfectly adequate.
I then not pursued absence of an appropriate holder, the medium format theme.
Small image I have also tested times where I had the equipment already there. Slide, negative and SW compared to a Reflecta RPS 10 M. Here it must be said that the Reflecta is pretty clearly superior in terms of resolution. The scans from Epson act as edited with Blur.
What bothered me the way and massively to the film holders, was the Newton glass inlay. The glass is plastic and pulls massive dust. The bottom line is you have to keep so meticulously clean even more.
When supervision scan the results are basically absolutely convincing. However, in my device bothered a twisted sensor, was twisted by every paper and scan had to be just turned first with software.
I have the equipment then returned because in the medium format holder fit any medium format films. And because I have no desire, in the office only once more to turn any paper scan straight.
Therefore, the assessment is difficult. 3 stars overall because it's the best scan quality well that there is at present of a flatbed scanner. (The big brother V850 has a optics with better coating, the comparison photo show, however, that the difference in picture quality is minimal.) 0 stars for the medium format holder, for fit and anti-Newton glass. 5 stars for the slide holder and the principle of allowing the complete processing holder filled in one go. 2 stars for the small image strip holder, because staubsammelndem antinewton glass. 4 stars for the scanning quality in medium format. 2 stars for the scanning quality in miniature.
In principle, suitable for medium format if you concerned yourself functioning holder. Limited use for small format, but a real film scanner as the Reflecta RPS 10M is better. For supervisory scans probably overqualified, but still not able to deliver precisely aligned scans. At least with my device.
Anyone who wants to scan especially small picture is wrong here and should look at times Reflecta.
