Our vehicle is used infrequently and usually only for short distances. Now he stood in a light frost (December / January 2013) back out and would not start. Radio and light still worked, we tested later, but the ignition? None. Now we have a few bad experiences always a jumper wire here. Unfortunately, no neighbors in sight. So we have been waiting, wasted a Saturday morning and we finally decided to purchase a booster station. By chance the unit was at a nearby hardware store on offer. The processing of the apparatus corresponds to the low price. But well: Station overnight charged, it works with its own lead-acid battery, and checked: keystroke to the internal charging state auditors showed full readiness. This device is in fact, as a small compressor for inflating tires and a work light, part of the really good equipment of the station. As luck would have it so, we had it again during startup problems. So: battery connected exactly according to instructions. Then we waited, as prescribed, with active booster station and firing more than two minutes. After that you should turn the key and theoretically can ignite easily. Nothing happened. The starter whined, nothing more. New start: again we waited, lit, and nothing happened. We bridged then a little later via cable and drove the car after a long "loading drive" in the workshop. Dynamo and battery have been replaced a year ago. The diagnosis was: both fully functional. Starter was ok too, spark plugs were practically new. Conclusion: The booster station is not able to support a really low battery sufficiently. As a mobile emergency aid it is therefore inappropriate. We will exchange the thing again and buy us a stationary battery charger. The battery can be fully charged at the necessary overnight via home power again. This way, we follow the advice of the automotive workshop. What a pity. There was to my military service in appearance similar mobile booster stations and that worked. Is probably a matter of price. Our advice: The purchase not worth it. Should someone find a working station with another manufacturer, we welcome your comments.
