As early as 1998 appeared Eric Clapton 13th studio album "Pilgrim" and only now I write this, a review and that although I liked the CD from the first listening test. That has not changed until today. Already alone the list of other collaborators on the album stands for first-class music, as Andy Fairweather-Low, Pino Palladino, Nathan East, Paul Carrack and Chris Stainton. It has become a very sad and poignant album. Although Eric Clapton here using drum machines and synthesizers, the sound is very emotional. The aforementioned instruments are presented very subtly and sparingly. Also by using the "London Session Orchestra" gets the album a wonderful mood. The backing vocals by Chyna Whyne and Babyface fit just perfectly into the overall sound. particularly in this regard is the song "One Chance" to mention. My judge it after it is on the CD, no failures. Each song takes me. However, I would like to touch on the very quiet and poignant song "Circus" briefly. Clapton wrote this piece after the death of his son Conor, who was killed in 1991 at the age of four years. In this song Clapton processed the last evening together with his son. Together, the two had attended a circus. It is certainly just as moving as the thematically similar song "Tears In Heaven". As already mentioned, all songs on the album are true musical gems from the collection of Eric Clapton. My Anspieltipps next said "Circus" are: "My Father's Eyes", "River Of Tears", "Fall Like Rain", "Pilgrim" and "She's Gone". I highly recommend this timeless and over the years still thrilling for me album, absolutely recommend.
