I admit I was quite baffled to read a big book that completely out of his usual subjects, adventurous vicissitudes of the Sigma Force struggling with mad scientists or billionaires (also crazy) who want to put the planet sectional adjusted after Millennium rediscovered an esoteric or magical secret that will give absolute power. A mix between James Bond and Indiana Jones group mode. Some books isolated without the Sigma Force, like Amazonia had enchanted me.
When I realized that Rollins was surfing the wave Twilight even Van Helsing in the XXI century, I wondered what I was doing in the middle of the vampires (the bad guys), of sanguinistes (converted vampires to defend widows and orphans ) and coached by a cardinal, werewolves? An archaeologist who is fearless, a US Army sergeant hunk find themselves embedded in and fight or in collaboration with all these charming creatures in search of a gospel written by Christ himself. Object with magical powers, of course ...
At first, I was afraid to get bored but I hate not finishing a book. Over a booster plot, we will also meet Rasputin (really indestructible), rear back, etc. granddaughter of the bloody Elizabeth Báthory, the countess who hoped to stay young bleeding white young virgins in the region (A Dracula petticoat, Julie Delpy cinema), etc. etc. And it is perhaps this delirious excesses which gives its humorous side to the book, its excess. The style of Rollins associated Rebecca Cantrell is a little light out of that book all comers.
Certainty: like it or not! Without revealing the end I can only say that there at least for a billion dollars to work in St. Peter's' And at least a second volume is scheduled for November. But I expect a comeback wacky heroes of the Sigma Force after a bit wobbly and too long incursion of the author in this heroic fantasy world that is not quite my cup of tea.
