"Daddy Long Legs" or "Papa Faucheux" is the first book I ordered from AMAZON when I bought my computer and this after 40 years of research. Why? Because when I was a teenager, I had SUITE (yes, no one ever talks) of this novel, called "My Darling Enemy". Judy married her benefactor, very rich, gives him a gift the complete renovation of the disaster orphanage where she lived. But who will replace Mrs. Lippett? This will be her friend Sallie McBride, who decided to make his apron in the early days, will take a liking to his hundred orphans and perform miracles with old college friends. But now, the end before the beginning, it's frustrating. At the time, no computer, "Daddy Long Legs" was no longer in bookstores and I really despaired. This girl, though voluntary, so intelligent, this original patron, I would have liked to know them early. In 2012, as I wanted to move, I finally bought a computer and my first search was therefore for this book I immediately found and enchanted me, like its sequel. These are not mere novels for young people, but as indicated by the excellent translator, they show the strength of private patronage of the time in orphanages. Finally, for readers who do not know, I note that the author is the niece of Mark Twain, which explains his humor, his originality and freshness. His two books are gems. A. GREDAY
