Steam:
I've been using for years. Had throughout this time has never been a failure, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages MMN.
UPlay
Meh, unnecessary. Again, however, I had so far no failures or problems, only logging is annoying
Who is the game for Steam 1 star, has either
a) not informed before buying that Steam is required.
b) are not taken 2 minutes, it needs to understand how the game of the DVD can be installed.
The game comes complete of the DVD, downloaded, only a 200MB update. Total installation time with me was 30 minutes.
The gameplay and its benefits probably already knows everyone (it actually works, also known as non-beginners it prepares fun), so I'm here only to several disadvantages which are a noticed.
It still seems a very slight latency to be present. It is not really noticeable, but it feels irgendiwe "funny" and I can not do it often in the rhythm of the song to enter correctly. On a real amp for me otherwise never a problem. Here I see therefore the risk that a complete novice who really learns exclusively on Rocksmith, bad timing anlernt to compensate for the RS latency. Please, please, finally used but ASIO.
The Riffrepeater can not divide any in AB sections. It can be repeated only single (or more) passages of a song. You have to listen to again and again a (too) large part of the song, even if you actually just a very quick short run or similar want to practice.
Music theory is completely omitted. Rocksmith teaches a song and technology. No less and no more. It is not for guitarists, and certainly not designed for musicians. You really want to learn guitar, necessarily, other (mostly free) sources (youtube, Ultimate Guitar, Justin Sandercoe, books, etc) must be used. Also ear training is completely ignored.
The game motivates but immensely and I also maintain that the teaching method in RS is more effective than simply to learn just tabs. And it's definitely more fun.
However, a complete novice should not rely solely on Rocksmith itself. On YouTube, there are countless courses that are better suited. It simply lacks here the common thread that helps a beginner good (Very frustrating) through the introductory phase. The game I consider "gadget" that a way still teaches songs and keeps you motivated by similar success.
