At Fuji Teleconverter TCL x100 are the ghosts. Some say that it does not make sense due to the low for them focal length, while others praise the increased flexibility that receives an X100 / x100s (and soon the X100T). I tend to the latter assessment, although the interplay between the camera and converter keeps quite a few, fuji typical stumbling blocks ready. But first things first: The converter is made very solid and can be screwed without wobbling on the narrow ring of 23mm lens. He does not interfere with the focusing of the camera and has, in my opinion also not affect the scattered light sensitivity. It increases the focal length of 23mm to 50mm, enabling even portraits. Of course it is also possible with the standard focal length of 23mm include such photos, the risk that distortion occurs, however, is present. Exactly this problem can be switched off effectively with the TCL and may also discrete photographing from a distance. Any existing color fringes are reduced by the X100 on the captured image, mainly to JPEG shooters delighted. The X100 is indeed a good deal larger, but still far from being able to apply in my eyes by the converter as conspicuous. He takes the photo or jacket pocket a small space and allows, together with the also excellent WCL (wide angle converter), an ideal package for travel photographer with 28-23-50mm focal lengths, which taketh away very little space and all the advantages of the x100 (s) continue makes available. No question that is not so x100 to an ultimate portrait machine which an X-T1 with 56 1.2 can hold a candle, but for relaxed traveling photography I do not want to miss both converters.
Where there is light, can be found in this case, just a little shade. It's annoying that the camera is also used in the latest, third-generation (x100t) no way to detect the converter automatically. So if you often have to change focal lengths often to the menu or at least reserve one of the instant access keys for this function. In addition, the front lens is quite far curved outward, so I always affixes the cover after each shot again in order to prevent scratches.
My Conclusion: Fuji Converter deserve the 4 stars because of the great picture quality and compactness. A star deduction is available for the price a bit too ambitious, but that's it by now come to expect from Fujifilm. For travel photographers, for photographers who do not want to give up for a interchangeable lens camera without the great Leaf shutter its x100, both the wide angle and the telephoto converter more than reasonable and necessarily imply a recommendation are worth!
