The writing is simple, but the novel is built around this strong relationship between a Jewish boy wishing with all his heart to become a Christian and a father trying to save, through its collection, the spirit of Judaism. In the middle of World War II, the thing is daring. Some passages are poignant and we fear for the protagonists engaged with the SS ... Schmitt we managed to put together a little gem to read.
