Note: The following preparatory work I have first carried out:
- The MAC address (found on the back of wemo) allocated a fixed IP address in my router wemo.
- Open the following ports on my router for the IP address of the wemo (required for remote access):
* TCP 8080
* TCP 8443
* TCP / UDP 3478
So, now to start:
1. The wemo app (Version 1.10.1) installed on my Android smartphone.
2. Connected to the found in the smartphone from wireless wemo.
3. start the app and then selected my home wireless network.
4. password entered my home WLAN: This has been acknowledged with the message that no special characters are allowed (FYI: My wireless password includes special characters).
Canceling the installation.
-> This is probably I thought a joke and contacted like the Belkin Support. Lt. To the manufacturer, it is not with passwords that contain special characters.
I wanted to in no way change the password of my home WLAN. Thus, there were only 2 options:
a) wemo return
b) herumprobieren anything else.
Now I decided for variant b)
As my wireless access point offers the possibility MSSID (several WLAN networks in parallel) to build, I made a 2nd wireless network and it secured with a password without special characters.
Now back to the start
5. Again, start the app and the selected WLAN, which has no special characters in the password.
6. followed the establishment increments until it was all over.
Finished 7th app and restarted
8. The wemo been detected. Immediately a firmware update was offered to me, which I could perform.
Finished 9th app and restarted. It was offered another firmware update, which I have also installed. Now firmware version WeMo_WW_2.00.7166.PVT active.
Finished 10th app and restarted. The first tests carried out. Everything works fine.
11 disabled WiFi on the smartphone and start the app. Remote access via 3G is detected. Tests carried out. All the best.
That with the password has no rest me then left yet. So I created the wemo reset (press and hold the reset button while plugging the wemo until the LED flashes orange). Then I uninstalled the app (incl. Cache settings and delete) and reinstalled.
After starting the app installation process started all over again. This time I have the home WLAN selected, which uses a password with special characters. Lo and behold, with the latest firmware has been accepted!
In short: Everything works perfectly now. My additionally created MSSID wireless network I could remove.
The wemo connects to continue with the WLAN, although the SSID is set to invisible later.
I hope I can help one or the other with this review something.
