Redman was, since I by "Brother on my Jock" (on EPMD's "Business as Usual") and then "Whut?" become aware of him'm almost the entire nineties through one of my favorite MCs. That changed only with "Doc's name since 2000". What is Redman delivers here simply a poppigerer infusion to the strong "Muddy Waters" album. This album has not only not a single hit the really knocks me off the stool. Also generally gets rather bored wide. Content although he has here and there again a few funny lines, but actually ists in this respect quite a bit tiring.
Redman is here already far below the peak of his creativity. In my opinion, any predecessors and "El Nino" is stronger by far. I had hoped that his collaboration with Method Man would revive when "Black out" him, but was also disappointed since. People who just want to get only in Redman's body of work, I can only advise you to start here. Both "Whut?" as well as "Muddy Waters" are really good disks from him. Incidentally, I must say that I find a comparison with West Coast Output as 2Pac, the Snoop Dogg Pound or even pretty funny. A worse comparison of East Coast hardcore to G Funk can basically hardly imagine only that it really fits here already almost back because the production sounds partly already badly weichgespĆ¼hlt. Too bad.
