Note: I have a seat-pedal bracket design tested this game with the Logitech G25 and Playseats. Both on the PS3 as well as on the PC. the two versions differ only in the graphical quality of the display. (PC version is a bit better)
about the game:
NFS SHIFT is very confident, therefore. after a spectacular trailer, which really makes Guster, the player expects a chic and simple main menu. who plunges straight into the race now will be tough disappointed. a slightly longer stay in the control and drive options will be the result. but has found once you setup kanns be finally ready to go. (I last but not least all the driving aids turned off etc.)
Graphics:
The graphics are probably the best thing about NFS Shift. The cars are beautifully modeled and detailed. the cockpits look very good and have been created with great attention to detail. the stretch and environments seem sometimes a bit pale and flat. but the overall impression fits and lets the pure tilt player easily into the game. especially the speed effects create a great racing atmosphere. only in the repetitions, the cars are a bit stiff and not create to deliver a compelling authentic picture it. but that does not make all too much, after all, it goes here and take a look around so not killed himself. the damage model is well intentioned, but I am not convinced. but it's not bad. better there are a half-wegses damage model than garkeines.
control & handling:
probably the most debated point. NFS is, in my opinion, like most current racing titles also, neither simulation nor a pure arcade racer. but precisely a mixture of both. the ratio is about 80/20 here. feel my was that playing with the controller and the keyboard is totally unplayable. unless you activate a few driving aids or exercises a lot. but proper racing game enthusiasts do not settle for something like "driver aids" from my view. the first round took me to the G25 steering wheel quite fun. but the more I went to the limits, the more I was disappointed as spongy and arcade-heavy which physics has become in the boundary regions. even with the strong Boliden was give me full speed and strong steering almost (I emphasize almost) impossible to drift the car through the corners. however, which I was very pleased how much you feel for the brakes so that the tires needed unblocked. but somehow every car drives in the same NFS SHIFT. can one, you can all. and quite apart from the simulation or arcade or not, it does in the long run no fun! but at least the physics of NFS Shift is a quantum leap compared to NFS Pro Street. but ultimately it was the reason why I have not yet bought the game then. NFS Shift has a comparison with GRID or GT5 PRLG. in terms of driving pleasure and ride just not endured ...
Sound:
during the drive there at the sound pure nothing to complain about. in the repetitions but everything is much too low and partially come quite a misfire before. in sum but bertrachtet first class. each car has its own sound and if you are then you hear the gas also neat! be mut dat!
Conclusion:
NFS Shift is all in all a worthy successor, but in sum considered just another nice to seeing sovereign racing game. a purchase, I would certainly have no regrets, but I'm glad that I have instead opted for the platinum version of GRID. the developers have here can make more of it. if they had still put some time in the driving physics, NFS SHIFT would have been an absolutely flawless race game. but at least a weft in the right direction! keep it up! then you could participate in the next NFS what are ...
