The Advantages:
It is small, handy and does a very good job as a directional microphone. So I have the audience can almost completely hide from the stands at a football tournament hall, so that you hardly hear byplay later in video footage and can concentrate on the game.
The mounting on the accessory shoe works without problems - even with one hand.
The quality of the recordings (also in absolute silence) are fault free and bring not have a noise with it.
The cons (in my opinion):
Outdoor you have to think about where and what you would like to film. The microphone captures any trace of wind noise and multiplies them many times over later in video footage. (Clearly this is difficult with such a prätiesem microphone).
That's why I bought the matching Deadcat (windshield) for overpriced 30 EUR from Rode. Here the noise is indeed slowed down but not done away with. The noise remains, although very slightly but they remain.
(No, I have not been at wind force 12 on the sea ^^)
The connection cable must be somewhere terminals into a crack if you are using the camera in motion. The lightweight dock of the cable to the camera body or the like will also be heard in the video footage.
The microphone I bought because some lenses of DSLR cameras have a large Gerüschentwicklung. I've assumed that these noises are decimated to a Minumun. So I was, however, completely wrong. Here it makes no difference to the internal microphone.
CONCLUSION:
A really good microphone, which ultimately does not cover all areas and therefore more likely to come in the indoor area on a tripod to its best advantage. For Outddooraufnahmen should bear in mind also that in spite of a low weight, still added a weight. The 9V battery makes itself also eventually felt.
From me there is a recommendation to buy, despite the three stars.
For me, the microphone was not, but I'm sure there are users where it fits really well.
