Thus, the USB 3.0 ports and the sound card work properly are two things to consider:

In my installation Windows 8 has installed all the latest drivers with no intervention.
The PC starts and responds incomparably faster, and the new graphics driver has the video quality significantly recovered. The Windows event log shows for weeks, except an occasional warning, no critical error messages.
Happiness would be perfect if the Lenovo complaints in User Forum would take seriously, and would at last comfortable at a BIOS update with a AHCI option.
