Nicolas Vasilyevich Gogol (1809-1852) is one of the most significant writers of Russian literature. Encouraged by Pushkin, in 1831 he published the first volume of short stories "The hamlet of Evenings", a collection of grotesque and fantastic news that ensures him fame.
In 1835 he published two new books, "Arabesques" (which contains Mad dun Journal) and "Mirgorod" (Taras Bulba containing), composed a play, "The Government Inspector", satire of bureaucracy, and begins his great novel; "Dead Souls", table uncompromising Tsarist Russia and merciless satire of human mediocrity.

"Petersburg News" is a collection of stories involving "The Overcoat," "The crazy diary", "nose", "The prospect Nevsky" and "focused".
New or succulent satire and fantasy combine beautifully.
Officials, Military, "little people" and men of power are ridiculed.
Human behavior are dissected and mocked.
The man and his meanness form the common denominator from him.

Nicolas Gogol pours acid on our empty corporate direction.
A work terribly relevant.
A major filmmaker he must have read, do not doubt!
