It took all my motivation and interest in Siberia and Lake Baikal to read this book. I found the experience fascinating. Overall I am disappointed and the word is weak. I found Sylvain Tesson smug as his words ring hollow: that vodka swallowed to get there! Those who want to read the story of one unforgettable moment (or so) in nature, particularly in winter should turn to Indian Creek Pete Fromm that he, at least, is humble and full of self derision shows us a face more human and profound. I also recommend the book by Colin Thubron: Siberia is exciting him.
