What divine inspiration has these thoroughbred musicians merged? Thank heavens! The jazz trumpet legend Wynton Marsalis and the blues guitar god Eric Clapton provide a live gig, its preservation on CD and DVD already has the makings of a classic! Already after the first few bars is clear, here are exceptional musicians at work. The other soloists, members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Clapton's keyboardist Chris Stanton, are first class! They goad each other to excel at their instruments on, the solos are a delight - good mood is about 90 minutes (DVD) guaranteed! A highlight of the gala is "Layla", which was selected as a single piece not by Clapton, but the bassist Carlos Henriquez. Here music history is written! I have rarely seen Eric Clapton jamming so solved as in these wonderful recordings. His facial expressions and glances anerkennden the bandmates reveal how much fun it this gig. Another reason why the double CD plus DVD is highly recommended.
