The Casual Vacancy (Hardcover)

Customer Review

Just a short warning: people Who expect a magical world evolve around 'em while reading this new novel, will be disappointed. JK Rowling's book is not about anything magical or fiction. The setting is grounded in a harsh reality: drug addiction, domestic violence, bullying, adultery, deceit and racism. Purpose Rowling marriages to create memorable and moving characters living in a superficially idyllic little village. The habitants are at war with the nearby council estate, Where people use drugs and live of the state, the novel Describes the struggle between "old" respectable England and the "new" underclass of the estate. The characters made me laugh, made me angry and Moved me to tears. Writing anything partner after the Harry Potter series must be a risk and a tough act to follow. Aim it is a wonderful novel, no doubt.
