... To humanity to krädenzen this grandiose album. Yes, it was 1993 - Paradise Lost nearing its peak, they never reached (which is namely somewhere between Icon and Draconian Times As between the two albums but none was, was probably only one's peak in the silent..) The following is called: Paradise Lost started her career as a Death Metal band. (1.Album Lost Paradise). Then they were an innovative doom / gothic metal band (2.Album "Gothic" and 3. "Shades Of God"). The fourth album, Icon, they were nearing perfection: Nick Holmes grunted not so tough, but was rather an easy angegrunzte Hetfield imitation (by the way very good). The guitars resembled each other more and more slightly more cumbersome to Metallica, however, along with her trademark, the melodic lead guitar, slightly depressive and phlegmatic toward Iron Maiden and Sisters Of Mercy in loud. Songs such as "True Belief" are already almost perfect. So, when trying to describe how awesome this song is, would even Goethe and Shakespeare have no words. That's just ... so ... that you have to hear! On this album there are also positive enough, no really weak or trivial songs. A wonderfully melancholy (Doom + Mainstream) -Metal / Goth rock mixture, kept still quite heavy riffing from, but very melodic and creative. Paradise Lost dared once again to experiment, and it succeeds. Immediately go to the ear while a few songs, but the more detailed study of the entire album pays off very quickly. The singles from this album have become classics. "Embers Fire", "Widow" and to be able to sing "True Belief" belongs in the metal scene worldwide for general education. But this album has a lot more songs this cathegory, Rememberance, Joys Of Emptiness, Dying Freedom, Colossal Rains, Christendom - Oh, come on. Here is not a bad song on it, and the best have absolute world class. Sometimes there can be many, perhaps too gloomy, melancholic and cumbersome. But who has a predilection for the combination of Metal and Melancholy, will love this album.
