"Born in the USA", this statement alone is forever linked with Bruce Springsteen, the album became a bestseller and made the "Boss" Springsteen with the American rock star. All seven singles from Born in the USA reached the Top Ten in the US and too well known is the story of Ronald Reagan, who wanted to abuse the theme song for the campaign. But who thinks of Born in the USA in patriotic party hits, is completely wrong and takes its place to probably millions of people who have vastly misunderstood Springsteen. The sound is perhaps more at the mainstream-oriented, as in other Springsteen albums, but the importance of a Springsteen album remains here principle the familiar. Finally, should anyone even read the text of the title track stand out that this is not at all meant patriotic, but the verzweiflte prosecution of Vietnam vets is that has forgotten his country. Undeniably, however, that is "Born In The USA" one of the best songs the Springsteen has ever written and will not get lost first associated with him, if, as he has probably thought to other ways. Who, how many, from the original "Born In The USA" Thanks to a lot of radio airplay already almost annoyed to be the acoustic versions recommended, such as on the DVD Live in NYC. Here again shows the incredible power of this song without disturbing perhaps, anthemic pop sounds, just imagine, as planned would Born In The USA landed on Nebraska. Overall, every song on this album is practically a hit, not for nothing that everyone knows "Dancing In The Dark" or "I'm On Fire". The more cheerful songs like "Working On The Highway", "Cover Me" or "Darlington County", which is a live Favorite today work fine, but the real highlights are the more thoughtful pieces where Springsteen exploits his genius in the usual way. Above all, one of his saddest songs "Down Bound Train". Lines like "Now I work down at the carwash / Where all it ever does is rain", "The room was dark, our bed was empty," "And I dropped to my knees, hung my head and cried," have really nothing to do with PartyPOP. Equally awesome is "No Surrender", which again is gaining strength in his live acoustic version. Unlike Nebraska, Springsteen preaching here not to give up and he succeeds: "There's a war outside quietly raging / you say it is not ours anymore to win / I wanna sleep beneath peaceful skies in my lover's bed / with a wide open country in my eyes / and proposition romantic dreams in my head ", words which have lost none of its importance. With the past to deal the final two tracks on the album, the nostalgic triumphant "Glory Days" and the highlight of the quieter parts of Born In The USA "My Hometown". With a simple melody he recapitulates childhood memories of a now ruined hometown ("Foreman says thesis jobs are going boys and They is not coming back to your home town"), in which he himself but now lives with his family. One of his most beautiful and popular ballads. Born In The USA is therefore a consistently brilliant album and has rightly held such a status. Springsteen has turned away from the despair and hopelessness of Nebraska and shows that there is something what is worth fighting for. Everyone should have this album and it is very crowd-pleasing. "We learned more from a three minute record, than we ever learned in school" (No Surrender).
