I'm a convinced fan of Adamsberg series, this latest episode my puzzled. The characters are pushed to the extreme so that they become the caricature of themselves. Danglard is no longer only cultivated, it becomes a professor of history; about Adamsberg, it is more pathetic than genius. His confused thoughts, breadcrumb all its investigations, Mount earned this time many sighs wearily.
In short, I found the investigation uninspiring, overloaded danecdotes superfluous and hardly played by recognizable characters. I want men BE so hard for my first real disappointment of a novel by Fred Vargas, but this is what had already put the bar very high.
