New impulses they do not give the genre with this album, but honestly: who wants that?
Pg.lost album starting with "Spirits Stampede", reminiscent in some moments of Explosions in the Sky, but comes as by the Swedes lived with a little more power and the distinctive falsetto of bassist Kristian Karlsson.
"Vultures" had found its shape also in the previous space and convinces with, in relation to the rest of the discography, unusual brutality that culminates in the subsequent "terrains". There even, quite unusual for the genre, even a discreet Cowbell insert which is fitted but very cool and not at all silly.
Of course offer pg.lost on their strongest tracks stereotypical sound-Quiet-structures, but who cares when they are presented so professionally ...
"Sheaves" demonstrates the successful monotony, which is provided with occasional guitar pulses.
"I Am A Destroyer" exerts its effect on increasing the total run time of 9 minutes, while "Gathering" represents for me the melancholy calming influence on the album, even if it is broken at the end of a short wall of guitars.
As expected, includes "Key" with a track that breaks the 10-minute mark ("Review"), because that was handled in the two predecessors as well. It can give some lengths, for which the final but quite compensated.
Although we can say at the end that one has everything something like also by the Swedes heard and you can use the well-known post-rock discussions, to "Key" proves genre album without big weaknesses when speaking of some clichés aside and is not only for lovers of pg.lost a must, but also the fans of melancholic soundscapes; of course also for those who have not had contact with Post Rock itself in 2012.
Critics may of course take distance and despite all the adulation we must also admit that the conversion is suitable "Key" is not.
