Philips HD9326 / 21 kettle made of stainless steel, 2200 Watts, 1.7 liter, keep warm function, Silver / Black (Kitchen)

Customer Review

So far we have the Bosch TWK8613 kettle (Bosch TWK8613 kettle Styline / plastic with stainless steel applications / for 1.5 l / 2000-2400 watts max) at our home in use. Because us the Philips HD9326 / 21 optically like better than our Bosch kettle, we were curious to see whether he is also the practical test:

+ Optical beautifully: Though our model came with a few stains on the brushed stainless steel, the Philips kettle looks interesting, very appealing. The size is very pleasant - it looks smaller than our Bosch kettle, although it can hold a total of up to 1.7 liters (the Bosch kettle creates only 1,5l).

+ Removable scale filter The limescale filter easy to remove and clean separately easily. That to me is already a prerequisite for a kettle - others I no longer here and the Philips kettle met my needs like already.

+ Good pouring: Before I discovered my Bosch kettle for me, I had several kettle and was sometimes more disturbed by the poor pouring mechanism. When Philips HD9326 / 21 the pouring performance is very good. Nothing bib, the water can pour out clean.

+/- Lots of stainless steel, hardly plastic: For some, it's important that the kettle does not contain plastic. The Philips kettle has inside only stainless steel - excluded from the anti-scale filter and inside the cover, they are made of plastic. Here, however, caution should be exercised: The stainless steel is (obviously) very hot on heating and the kettle should then be handled exclusively by the handle.

+/- Just a cable opening: There is a cable storage under the base on which the cable is wound. However, this has only one opening to the rear, so that the cable only very briefly (too short for my taste) or even longer may have. An intermediate stage is not possible, a pity. Since it is not a big gripe, I think this point even neutral.

+/- Temperature range: From our previous kettle I'm used to a classification of 70, 80,90 and 100 degrees. When Philips model we continue only at 80 degrees and then going on with 90, 95 and 100 degrees. This is a matter of taste which one is sympathetic as / what you used more. Both models have the way a warming function.

- Small lid opening: The small lid opening is immediately caught my eye. And somehow it bothers me, although it on everyday life for me has no great influence. The scale filter is easily accessible despite its small opening and cleaning I always use citric acid, so I did not have to rumschrubben inside. Still, I prefer it not so cramped as here.

- Prone to fingerprints: You have to cover if it was opened by the head to the handle, push down again even to close it. So far no problem. But after a few missions we had unsightly fingerprints on the kettle.

- Water level indicator / only suitable for small amounts of water, so whoever has it please devised? First it is too small, poorly visible, but the main point of criticism is for the classification in cups. It starts with 3 cups, continues with 4 cups / 1 liter, 6 cups / 1.5 liters and ends with 1.7 liters. From this one can infer then indeed that a cup well are 0.25 liters and it convert for yourself, but overall it's just a weak presentation. I prefer a liter indication. And besides, I'd like a better classification. When Bosch kettle it starts at 0.25 liters and then goes in 0.25 liter increments are gradually up to the 1.5 liter achieved. This is much more practical. Sometimes I want to make for example a pint of broth and cook me for a pint of water. Here at the Philips model is the impossible. One must appreciate by looking through the small top opening when pouring or measure out the water earlier with another container (or more heating and the excess water subsequently discard) - all very suboptimal.

- The heating time: Sorry, but Philips also still writes that the water boils quickly (on an external source is even "hot water in a matter of seconds"). Unfortunately, this is also my biggest gripe. For quick nothings is happening here ... I have both kettle with 1 liter of water filled, set to 100 degrees heat, started and let casually run a stopwatch. The result was almost frightening: was ready for the Bosch kettle after 2 minutes and 59 seconds, the Philips kettle has boiled for a further cheerfully. It has no fewer than four minutes and 56 seconds (!!!) used to the Philips kettle gepiepst and is turned off. This is an absolute no-go for me.

CONCLUSION: I would not have thought so, that I have so much to report on a kettle. But here there were unfortunately only a few positive qualities and overall rather negative to report. The kettle is not all bad. For he indeed fulfilled his service and heats the water - but much too slowly. And for about 80 (as of 08/07/14), I expect a lot more, so I forgive only 2.5 stars. This can my three year old kettle from Bosch better ...
