Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Gold Edition (computer game)

Customer Review

Once there are now Dawn of War 2 in the Gold Edition, I thought it would be to buy at the time the game.
From the game itself I know from the test with friends, it's not quite as fun and exciting as Part 1 though, but there are new features such as the RPG elements reminiscent of Chaos Gate - and they are quite funny.
The game itself is recommended - but all around it is a nightmare.

I've heard a lot about in advance Games for Windows Live and Steam, but the whole of this purchase simply reset times - you will indeed be able to bite already up.
And you can certainly. But it is an absolutely obscene fighting the limitations of a security obsessed market.
First you have to create a Steam account, install Steam, update a few times, to register the thing at Steam and only then can you finally install it *. About Steam. Not a regular installer.
Here you have no possibility to choose an installation location - it is installed to where Steam is.
So once you have Steam to C: packed and want the game put it on a game disk itself - it does not.
In fact, one must first remove the entire Steam folder to another hard drive, so you can install the game in the Steam folder, which is now on a different hard drive? Awkward? But by no means! The now called Service.
So after having the whole nonsense with Steam behind him, the registration, the install after you have moved the folder, you can finally start the game - and now start from Games for Windows Live to sign - the second customer event.
Now one must create a Live account, or enable an offline account to a live account.
For this you should however - if you want to create a new live account, delete the old, because otherwise always logged even if amended login settings of old, not the new.
When changing to the new Live account from the old, a bunch of updates is first installed first, without which is not possible otherwise the whole, and the registration will be canceled. I'm just doing this for the fourth time - sorry - to install updates stupid, have just deleted the old account, and I can finally make it this whole process to finish, and to play the game.
A so opaque, unnecessary, pointless and annoying nonsense of a game installation I have so far never experienced - I will probably no longer. At least not from Steam. Or Games for Windows Live. Because to both I'll do in the future a wide berth.

Conclusion: The game itself is fun and a nice pastime, albeit a bit repetitive in the missions - which included customer service programs GFWL and Steam are an impertinence and an expression of hostility to customers.
For whom they want to punish so I do not know - as I know, the pirated versions of DOW2 much more accessible and user-friendly. For honest customer that was a slap in the face.
With all due respect, I will now look for a fierce battle, fighting hard and nerve-racking maneuvers a little peaceful relaxation in saving the universe.
