The End (Paperback)

Customer Review

When I discovered the Baudelaire Orphans was in front of my TV screen because at the time I had not had the chance to discover what this brilliant literary work. Then before the very successful film I tried to find out more about the books in question and sadly I discovered that it was children's books. Nourished by my prejudices I waited several years to decide - through a friend - to read!

And what was my joy! Indeed, as the author-aka Lemony Snicket - said he was very disappointed with the silliness of children's books of his time here and he decided to create a story with disastrous effect in all respects ... Orphans Baudelaire, Violet, Klaus and Prunille three children separated from their parents died in a tragic fire. From here placed with different tutors they will suffer the wrath of Count Olaf who seek to eliminate all costs! But you already know that or you would not be the last volume.

What is certain is that the story is very well written, with elegant turns of phrase, very deep on values, morals, sadness also the world where these 3 kids hardly find that pitfalls and too little comforting shoulders in their quest VDC. It whispers to us that VDC almost all pages. This secret society that seems to struggle against evil and gradually seems awfully tied itself with the narrator who tells us his story ...

But only 4 stars because unfortunately I think the last book just leaves us hungry, I would have so loved us that everything is explained here or the narrator seems to have lost track of orphans in the fog and we finally know little , which is a shame when so many questions torment us from the first book.

Nevertheless, I still recommend everyone to read!
