First of all; the fear has not been confirmed, because the Canon is really great!
I want to save me, here all the technical capabilities / features of the Canon perform again.
This can bring in experience elsewhere.
I want to play with my review a clear assessment of a not quite inexperienced user.
As usual with Canon, the SX700 leaves a very good impression of quality.
From the dimensions it is the Sony HX50 quite similar.
The Canon is a touch wider, but the Sony is a touch thicker.
The arrangement of the keys is likely to be a matter of taste and for me is not really a criterion.
I think here the user accustomed quickly to the circumstances.
Software Technically leaves the SX700 a better impression, there are simply more setting.
But now the most important thing, the picture quality.
Here, the Canon makes no weaknesses, I find the picture quality excellent.
Although the Canon "only" 16.1 megapixels, the Sony offers 20.4 megapixel resolution, the sharpness of detail in the Canon is slightly better.
The Sony has for an incredibly good dynamic range.
In direct comparison, but there is no real winner in image quality.
Both cameras are here top, or play in the same league.
Also, the HD video mode is in the Canon-class and makes a normal camcorder actually superfluous.
Conclusion:
Anyone looking for a compact superzoom with very good picture quality makes the purchase of the SX700 definitely no mistake.
From my clear recommendation!
