The Olympus Pen E-PL6 is really fun. It is small and compact and provides an extremely wide range of settings and shooting functions. The body electric PL6 with the M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm (1: 3.5-5.6) lens, Shell flash FL-M1mit pocket, additional plate, Li-Ion battery (7.2V, 1150mAh), shoulder strap and SD card (not included) weigh just 518g times. The dimensions in the transport state are approximately 120mm wide, 66mm high, without flash, 95mm deep with folded lens. The Pancake lens, as well as the Flash Air card, for wireless data transfer, is included in this model NOT. In comparison, weighs an SLR, Nikon D3200, incl. 18-105mm lens, 1045g, or twice. The dimensions are 122mm, 106mm high, with the flash is lowered, and 168mm deep. Ok, I must confess that the lens of the Nikon covers a larger area. But still, I think I can compare the two cameras, because I am of the opinion that both systems are ideal for ambitious beginners. In addition, is the Nikon D3200, with a similar objective, in the price range of the Olympus Pen E-PL6. The Olympus Pen E-PL6 has a robust and well-designed body, which makes a very pleasant service. Everything is of high quality and with the vari-angle 3-inch TFT LCD touch screen is a real pleasure to shoot pictures. The touch screen is very stable and can be mounted only vertically moved but not rotated. Simple design means the display can also be lifted so far still the top, that you can make Selfis super. The only thing that makes me a little concerned, is that the display is not embedded a little deeper. Thus, it often happens that you, the camera on the screen and this then scratched if necessary. My tip: It is best to be bought as a protection film. The screen has 460 000 pixels and is even clearly visible from an extremely flat viewing angle and there is no color change as in some other displays. But I was especially impressed that it is still readable even in direct sunlight. However, the picture then appears very dark. The effective size of the visible image is approximately 65mm x 38mm. On the margins additional information is displayed. The touch screen responds quickly and accurately. Especially practical is that you can trigger image recording with him or can determine the focus point. On the touch screen itself, you can turn off the touch function and to prevent the inadvertent initiation. The lens is clean, fast and with no discernible visual impairments. Even at the edge regions I can recognize any distortions of the image. The autofocus is very fast and there are several Focus modes available. General offers the Olympus Pen E-PL6 extremely many settings that are not to be found in part without guidance. Therefore I do not understand why Olympus mitliefert no complete user in paper format. The guidelines PDF version is indeed very well written and comprehensive, and that even in a good German. But just for the first few weeks, I'd rather have a guide as a handbook, so you can look up briefly, if one is looking for a functional, especially when I'm traveling and need a quick info. We especially liked the following features that are not self-evident for cameras: Bracketing: The Pen E-PL6 offers many bracketing in which several images are taken with different values. AE BKT (AE bracketing) different exposure values, WB BKT (WB bracketing) different white balance, FL BKT (Flash Exposure Bracketing) different flash intensities, ISO BKT (ISO bracketing), ART BKT (ART bracketing) any Artfilterfunktionen, HDR BKT (HDR bracketing) multiple pictures for HDR images. Unfortunately, the HDR image can not be created with the free Olympus Viewer 3 software. Multiple Exposure: Here you can record 2 images in succession, each image is captured with reduced brightness and thus a normally exposed image. Or you can overlay multiple RAW images. Interval Shooting: In this function you can make automatic recording with a fixed time interval and can create these directly as video. Water Truck feature: One can be on the screen display two bar graphs, one horizontal and one vertical. Here you can clearly see whether you hold the camera in balance. There are many other features that I do not want to explain further here. Conclusion: I am convinced of the Olympus Pen E-PL6 100%. Until now I could make a lot of good pictures, even in situations that are less than optimal for photographing. (Indoor hockey when there is insufficient artificial light). The results were positive and in comparison to the above Nikon D3200 also better. The E-PL6 is light, compact, easy to operate and makes extremely good pictures. The image displayed on the screen could be larger. But you can get used to it. But the images are on display, even in sunlight to look very good. The tripping time is extremely short. I can find no shutter lag. The autofocus is faster than with the D3200 and offers many setting possibilities. For example, you can always press the magnifying glass button and provides a highly magnified image of the object is focused. From me there is a strong buy recommendation. I hope I could give you a little insight into the handling of the Olympus Pen E-PL6.
